It’s an exciting time for actress Cameron Diaz, and now she’s got us pumped as well! On December 11th, Cameron posted a smiling makeup-free photo of herself to her Instagram account, gushing about her new nutrition book, The Body Book: The Law of Hunger, the Science of Strength, and Other Ways to Love Your Amazing Body.

Screen Shot 2013-12-15 at 9.58.07 PM How adorable  – and appropriate – to see Cameron looking so happy and comfortable. Cameron says she wrote The Body Book with the goal to teach young girls about healthier lifestyles. A publishing source commented:

“She wants to stop their fixation on being thin, and for teenage girls to understand that being healthy is more important. She wants to use her celebrity to make a difference. She knows she is a role model to girls and she really wants to use that position to do good. This book is not about weight, it’s about making the right choices.”  [source]

However, Cameron’s mission doesn’t just end with the book.

“Cameron is going to be visiting high schools around the country to talk to teenagers about their food choices and what is important to them. She wants them to know that being thin should not be their priority, it’s about getting the right vitamins and knowing what foods will give them energy and keep them strong. She wants to get their feedback, learn about how they decide what to eat now, and teach them to make more informed choices.” [source]

 Cameron embarked on this endeavor after the death of her father in 2008.

In the book, Cameron will be sharing lessons she learned through personal experience as well as sharing information from the top nutritionists in the world, exposing young girls to advice they would otherwise not have access to. However, Cameron wants to make one thing very clear.

“This book isn’t about her. And it’s not a diet of any kind. Of course, it’s her own journey that has helped her realize what’s important, but she wants the book to appeal to everyone, and not just be about her own food choices.” [source]

Cameron Diaz has a history of body-positive statements, so we’re glad to see this kind of book coming from her. She has never been shy about saying she loves her body – curves, wrinkles, everything! Here are just a few:
