L’Oreal developing a (possibly dangerous) pill to prevent grey hair
Yes, L’Oreal is developing a pill that could ward off grey hairs in the future – that is, if you start taking it at least ten years before your projected “grey date.” Meaning, if you’ve already started going grey, this pill won’t work for you. Not even if you’re projected to go grey in five years. It HAS to be ten years before, and then forever after that to ensure that your hair does not age.

I had just finished a post on L’Oreal’s new anti-aging pill (claims to ward off grey hairs) and was feeling a little bummed and discouraged. So I was going through a long list of links I’ve been saving up for future posts and came across this gem by Naomi Wolf, author of “The Beauty Myth.” I have never read the book (which I now feel obligated to), but it spoke about the rise of feminism being such a step forward, however women were still being held back.
Plastic surgery trends: face lifts and liposuction decline, breast implants and Botox on the rise over past decade
The American Society of Plastic Surgeons have released some new stats on the number of cosmetic procedures performed today versus 10 years ago. The New York Times is reporting that 13.1 million total procedures took place—a 5% increase from last year. But over the past decade, many popular operations are on the decline. Liposuction is down 43% from 2000, while nose jobs are down 35%, and face lifts are down 16%.

Time to head to the store to get a push-up bra and some make-up for your 8 year-old. Wait…what? That’s right. According to the latest trends in beauty and fashion, push-up bras and anti-aging makeup are being marketed to tweens. Apparently, 8-12-year-olds should start looking and acting like adults. What is wrong with this picture? As the mom of three girls, I say absolutely everything is wrong with this. Should kids be wearing real makeup and push-up bras?
