It becomes a miracle in itself when someone can overcome things no matter what and prove that we can defy all odds – especially when having disabilities and numerous challenges. Many people, especially children, get mocked or ridiculed for something out of their control. Instead of doubting or making fun of children and people who have these disabilities, people should all show support and love because anyone with disabilities deserves to shine like the rest of the world.
A beautiful little soul named Holly Greenhow, who is only seven years old, has shown the world that you don’t have to be a typical model to be beautiful. Anyone in their own unique way can be something. No matter the disability and the everyday challenges, one must not give up or doubt themselves. This little girl is the first person with Cerebral Palsy to become a model for British clothing brand Boden and it is all thanks to her grandmother and mother for encouraging, loving, and supporting her all while they were trying to make a statement that there are not enough children with disabilities modeling or acknowledged by society. Her mother Fiona stated: “Not many children with disabilities have the opportunities that other children have,” Fiona, told ITV News. “I wanted to show that you don’t have to be perfect to be in a magazine or online or in photographs, so that was my desire to push forward and get it done for Holly.” If more parents would be encouraging and take a stand, I think that eventually the world will view people with disabilities as human beings and not just specks of dirt. I hope one day, people with disabilities will not be looked at as just having disabilities. There are more to people with disabilities than a label. They have hearts, they exist and breathe just as anyone does. So treat them as you would want to be treated – with love and respect. I wish for this little girl and anyone else facing challenges to shine on! BE YOU! Source: Shine
