Victoria’s Secret Competition Winner Says She Felt Like a Piece of Meat

Victoria’s Secret Angel Search competition winner, Kylie Bisutti, is releasing an autobiography entitled “I’m No Angel” in which she talks about her experience working for Victoria’s Secret. Kylie reveals that she felt like a piece of meat while she posed in lingerie. She goes on to say that she felt like it wasn’t about the clothing anymore, just about posing provocatively for men and that she felt like that wasn’t honoring her husband. Kylie decided to quit modeling for Victoria’s Secret and with that decision so went her multimillion dollar contract with the company. In response to Kylie’s book, Victoria’s Secret released a statement to People Magazine (trying to) discrediting the former model: “Ms. Bisutti has made numerous fabrications and misstatements of fact regarding her brief association with Victoria’s Secret. In 2009, Ms. Bisutti won an online amateur modeling competition and hasn’t worked for us since that year. The prize for the winning contestant was the unique opportunity to a one-time walk in the 2009 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. Ms. Bisutti also participated in a swim photo shoot in 2009. That was the extent of Ms. Bisutti’s involvement with Victoria’s Secret. She was never a Victoria’s Secret ‘Angel’ as defined by the terms of our Angel model contract. And contrary to Ms. Bisutti’s claims, she was never offered any subsequent modeling contracts or opportunities with Victoria’s Secret despite her multiple appeals for further work. She has repeatedly fabricated her work experience with Victoria’s Secret — including a relationship that simply did not exist.” I decided to post this because I think that what Kylie claims is important. Now whether she is telling the truth or not, I have no idea but if she is I think that it’s worth sharing. Victoria’s Secret is an organization based on making women feel sexy in their underwear. Most of the time we buy the sexy underwear for a significant other, not really for ourselves. With that being said, if Victoria’s Secret were accused of objectifying women for the sole purpose for getting men’s attention they would probably loose customers. I don’t think Victoria’s Secret can really discredit Kylie’s claims, the calendars and sexy photos inside of their catalogs aren’t for women to look at and feel good about themselves. It’s for men to look at and have the desire to see their girlfriends/wives in that underwear. I respect Kylie for walking away from Victoria’s Secret and all the money she would have received to maintain her personal morals. Only if more people had the same strength, maybe she wouldn’t be judged so harshly. Yahoo!
