helena_bonham_carterNicole Kidman recently admitted that she’d (shocker!) been using Botox. And she’s not the only actress to tamper with her most important tool — her face. But Helena Bonham Carter refuses to jump on the immobility bandwagon. The actress says: “I can still move all my face muscles! There aren’t many who can still do that. Age is underrated. I think what’s happening is that directors and the studios want actresses who have natural looks, who haven’t had any work done.” It’s such a bizarre dilemma: Women feel intense pressure to look younger. Actresses feel like they have to stay competitive and look their “best.” Directors want to cast ladies who look like a character in a film, and not a Hollywood actress struggling to hold on to youth at all costs. HBC adds: “I know some actresses who have had bits of work done and it’s so good you can’t tell. The problem is that now the high-definition camera can tell, so it’s best to leave your face alone.” And you know? She’s right. Maybe there’s less pressure when you’re known for being quirky and not the untouchable/gorgeous romantic lead. But if being a movie actress is about, you know, making movies — not looking flawless — well, HBC proves she is on her way to being the Head Bitch in Charge:

Look at Judi Dench. She’s beautiful. Talk about her face being her fortune! She never stops working. That’s what I want for me.
