Beautiful People dating websiteMy brother Matt shared this gem with me. I had heard about this website, but never really looked into it too much until recently. Seriously, you won’t believe this – www.beautifulpeople.com. This is an online dating/business community website that puts high priority on appearance.  Basically, there is a rating system. If your profile photo is turned down enough or gets poor ratings, you get kicked off the site. Wow. If I ever could pinpoint what the eff is wrong with some people, this would be it. You can visit the About page to read it for yourself, but here’s some information the company provides:

What is BeautifulPeople.com?

BeautifulPeople.com is an exclusively beautiful community, founded for the purpose of creating personal and professional relationships. BeautifulPeople has been described as an “elite online club, where every member works the door”. BeautifulPeople is the first community of its kind. To become a member, applicants are required to be voted in by existing members of the opposite sex. Members rate all new applicants over a 48 hour period based on whether or not they find the applicant ‘beautiful’. Should applicants secure enough positive votes from members, they will be granted a full membership to the BeautifulPeople Network. The vote is fair and democratic. BeautifulPeople does not define beauty it simply gives an accurate representation of what society’s ideal of beauty is. Applicants can upload a complimentary profile. They are able contact members while being rated thereby giving insight into the character behind the appearance. BeautifulPeople simply removes the ‘first hurdle’ as every member is exactly that; ‘Beautiful’ as deemed so by their peers. BeautifulPeople has become a global phenomenon. BeautifulPeople is the largest network of attractive people in the world.

Why BeautifulPeople.com?

The concept and site was founded on one very simple principle of human nature – the fact that people want to be with someone they are attracted to. It may not be politically correct to say so… but it is honest. Beauty is subjective and BeautifulPeople Network believes that beauty lies in the eye of the beholder. The rating module was born from this very principle. By giving the power back to the members to define their ideal of beauty in a democratic way. Essentially, by applying to BeautifulPeople Network applicants are being beholden by thousands. As a member of BeautifulPeople, you will have access to the most attractive people locally and from around the globe. You will also be able to frequent events and parties hosted by fellow members and BeautifulPeople Network. You can also post your own events and invite friends and attractive members you’d like to meet. The professional networking options included in the Business Area allows you to explore new business and employment opportunities. BeautifulPeople.com is also frequented by some of the worlds leading model scouts, talent agencies and production companies looking to recruit talent.

How do I get voted in to BeautifulPeople.com?

Entry to BeautifulPeople Network lies with the members through the unique rating module. Members of the opposite sex vote for new applicants over a 48 hour period. The majority vote is the deciding factor in being accepted into the network. While applicants are awaiting the rating verdict, they may browse existing members’ profiles and connect with them through the various communication tools on the site. These include Email, Instant Messaging, Video/Voice Chat, Broadcasting, Board Comments and Group Discussions. If an applicant does not get voted in, they may resubmit with a better profile picture and more interesting profile text.

BP as a platform

BeautifulPeople provides the ideal platform to meet new people and stay in touch with the people you care about. The site introduces revolutionary web technologies featuring a draggable-windows based navigation. The intuitive, application-like interface allows you to interact with an unlimited number of features and sections of the site simultanously. As an example, the interface allows you to check out the author’s profile without having to leave the forum of his post or view the profiles of the attendees without leaving the events page. All within the BeautifulPeople web application and without clicking through numerous browser tabs. In short, BeautifulPeople redefines web usability and pushes the boundaries for online applications.

Interview requests

The Directors of BeautifulPeople have appeared on CNN, The BBC, The View, Good morning America, and Inside Edition to name but a few. They are charismatic, out spoken and honest – if not always PC! Spokespeople as well as members are available for interviews. Please see the ‘Contact’ section for more details. (END) Ugh. This whole thing makes me kind of depressed. Apparently you wait out 48 hours of judging/rating in order to be accepted onto this shallow website. But just from taking the free guest tour, I see that participants are able to not only adjust a very specific search criteria, but also view the “Top 50” beautiful users as well as “Premium members” (no idea what that means, but it can’t be good). I wonder what happens to those that are rejected or “voted off” the site? How do they feel and what defines whether or not someone stays or goes? The site says judging is based on society’s view of beauty, but honestly I don’t think everyone has the same perception of beauty. Or maybe they do, if they’re on this site. I think this is a fantastic way to make people feel insecure, inadequate as well as encourage the wrong point system in which to value a human being. And, what about the people that “make it” onto the website? Are their egos ridiculously inflated? Do they think they’re better than others? Do they honestly believe they are “elite?” I’m sure they do…until they get kicked off as well, because the media is always altering beauty perception. It’s a trend, it is elusive and you cannot attain it. And in my opinion, an ugly heart does not make a beautiful person under any circumstances. (Sigh). What do you guys think about this? Have you heard of this site?
