Jessica Simpson no makeup for Marie ClaireJessica Simpson goes back to basics for Marie Claire‘s May issue, gracing the cover with zero makeup or Photoshop retouching. For Simpson, it’s all in the name of real beauty. Following the launch of her VH1 TV show, “The Price of Beauty,” Simpson, who has been frequently pummeled in the press for her weight issues, is now launching a new initiative with Operation Smile called A Beautiful Me to empower women everywhere to appreciate their own beauty. Though it sounds like the singer has developed quite the thick skin since the “mom jeans” debacle in January 2009, the 29-year-old is not completely immune to the pressure in Hollywood to maintain a size zero figure. “After everything I’ve gone through this past year with people just being fixed on me gaining some weight, that was really hard on me to be in the media all the time and to be … scrutinized like that,” says Simpson, who admits, “I was paranoid. Everywhere I would go, people would say, ‘Oh, you’re not that fat!’ That was a very difficult time for me.”

“I don’t have anything to prove anymore. What other people think of me is not my business.”

Filming “The Price of Beauty” turned out to be a bit of an extended therapy session for the blond beauty. “I really found confidence within myself,” says the star. “I do think we put too much pressure on women to be beautiful, and to be perfect. The show was my own search to find my own beauty within.” Article by Yahoo! I truly love the parallel messages she is sending with her own project, “A Beautiful Me.” So empowering!
